Racing History

Allgaier was raised by Mike and Dorothy Allgaier. He has raced in the ARCA series since 2004, where he has earned one Pork Pole Award setting a track record at Springfield, Illinois in 2005. In 2005, Justin appeared on the Discovery Channel program, "Driver X: The Race For The Ride." The show's premise was Jack Roush searching for new talent to drive Roush Racing prepared vehicles in NASCAR's top 3 series.[1] [2] In 2006, Allgaier made history again at the Illinois State Fairgrounds Racetrack in Springfield by earning his first ARCA victory becoming the first Springfield area resident to win in the 72 year history of championship auto racing at the fairgrounds. In 2007, he won two features in a midget car at Angell Park Speedway and placed 3rd in the Chili Bowl behind Tony Stewart and JJ Yeley.

Allgaier's 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series season got off to a great start with a 2nd place finish at the season-opening Daytona ARCA 200 at the Daytona International Speedway on February 9, 2008.[3]

On April 13, 2008, Justin recorded his first ARCA RE/MAX Series victory of the 2008 season at the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 by Federated Auto Parts race at Salem Speedway in Salem, Indiana.[4]

On June 29, 2008 Allgaier won the inaugural ARCA RE/MAX race at the Cayuga Motor Speedway in Nelles Corners, Ontario, Canada.[5]

On July 4, 2008, Allgaier paid a visit to local speedway, Farmer City Speedway in Farmer City, Illinois. He drove his #1A UMP late model to 3rd place finishes in both his heat race, and the feature. This was Justin's only 2008 UMP late model appearance.[6]

July 19, 2008 heralded Allgaiers lone 2008 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start. He finished 24th in the Dave Porter Truck Sales Ford at the Built Ford Tough 225 at Kentucky Speedway driving for MB Motorsports.[7]

Justin recorded his first superspeedway win at the Pocono Raceway on August 2, 2008.[8]

On August 9, 2008 at the Toyota ARCA 150 race held at the Nashville Superspeedway, Justin drove the Venturini Motorsports/CJM Racing Carfax #16 in what was termed an "on-track audition." In an eventful race, which saw him spun out of the lead, Justin placed a respectable 8th, after falling to 16th as a result of the spin.[9] Justin returned to the the Allgaier Motorsports #16 the following week.[10]

Justin won a POWRi midget feature at his "home track," Macon Speedway on August 16, 2008.[11] He followed that up 2 days later, August 17, 2008 with a 6th place finish in the Allen Crowe Memorial 100 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.[12]

On August 30th, at the Southern Illinois State Fair, Justin scored a win in his USAC midget.[6] The next day, September 1, 2008, Justin finished a disappointing 16th in the ARCA RE/MAX Series Southern Illinois 100.[13]

On September 28, 2008, Justin won the inaugural Loud Energy Drink 150 at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, New Jersey.[14] He followed that up with a win the next week, October 3, 2008 with another victory at Talladega Superspeedway in the Food World 250.[15] The back-to-back wins were his 4th and 5th ARCA RE/MAX Series victories of the year, and his first career road course and restrictor plate wins. The Talladega victory was also Allgaier's first in a Dodge, and was powered by a Penske Racing Dodge engine. As of that point in the season, Justin had a series-leading 5 wins, and was 3rd in points, 105 points behind points leader, Scott Speed.

On October 10, 2008 Justin attempted to qualify the Penske Racing-owned, Penske Truck Rental Dodge #12 for the NASCAR Nationwide Series Dollar General 300 at Lowes Motor Speedway. He qualified 14th with a time of 30.041 seconds, and a speed of 179.754 mph.
Justin's NASCAR Nationwide Series debut ended early at lap 125. Allgaier had finally made his way into the top 10, when Jeff Green spun and went airborne in front of Justin. Allgaier got clipped and was sent towards the outside wall when Steven Wallace came careening across the track after making contact with Green's car and the wall. Justin finished the race in 34th position, 75 laps behind eventual race winner, Kyle Busch.[16] Allgaier is slated to race 2 more NASCAR Nationwide Series races this season. Those races are the November 1, 2008 O'Reilly Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway, and the November 15, 2008 Ford 300 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.[6]

At the October 12, 2008, ARCA RE/MAX Series Hantz Group 200 by Belle Tire and Federated Car Care at Toledo Speedway, an unpredictable turn of events happened. Justin entered the race 3rd in points, and started the race from the 8th position. A lap 27 altercation proved to be beneficial to Allgaier, as 2nd in points, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., sent points leader, Scott Speed, up into the wall, and virtually ending his race. The Eddie Sharp Racing crew fixed Speed's car, only to have Speed retaliate on lap 34, and crash Stenhouse. Speed was parked for the remainder of the race by ARCA Officials for rough driving, and Stenhouse spent 69 laps behind the pit wall fixing his battered racecar. Justin stayed near the front the rest of the race, and took the lead 12 laps from the end. He hung on to win the race, his 6th victory of the season. With Speed and Stenhouse finishing back in the pack, Justin won the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship.[17] [18]
Allgaier had these comments on his championship run:

From the ARCA Racing website:

"This is unbelievable. We came into the race third in points; we had Frank (Kimmel) right behind us. We had nothing to lose, so we did what we do every week; we raced as hard as we could and went for the win. As things turned out, it also brought our team the championship. I'm so proud of all these guys on this crew; they're the reason I'm up here tonight. I am so relieved this is over. Now we can really focus on the Nationwide races at Texas and Homestead. This really helps with the confidence."[17]

From the Decatur (Illinois) Herald & Review:

"These guys are awesome. There are no words to describe this feeling."[19]

From the Springfield (Illinois) State Journal Register:

"There’s no way that I could have come here and expected things to unfold this way. It took a miracle for us to win this race, and this championship, and we got that miracle. What happened with those guys (Speed and Stenhouse), that’s unfortunate, but this is the last race of the season, and things have been kind of been building up all year. After that happened, it just kind of opened things up for us and we took that opportunity to heart. To get through everything that was going on out there, and to come across that finish line first with the previous champion (Frank Kimmel) right behind you — it really makes you feel like you earned it."[20]

2009

On September 18, 2008 it was announced Allgaier would drive a limited schedule in 2008 and 2009 in the NASCAR Nationwide Series for Penske Racing.[21][22]

Because of the acquisition of Penske Racing sponsor Alltel by Cellco Partners, a joint venture of Verizon and Vodafone, their Sprint Cup sponsorship was legislated out of the sport by NASCAR's agreement with Sprint in that series to prohibit sponsorship by wireless telephone companies.

This allowed Cellco to move the sponsorship to the Nationwide Series, where it is not prohibited, and Allgaier will race a full season with Cellco sponsorship for what will now be known as Penske Championship Racing (the name change was made to accommodate Verizon Wiress' sponsorship of the team, which is referred as Verizon Championship Racing, which encompasses all series of Penske).

Other notable racing accomplishments

In 2001, at 14 years of age, Justin became the youngest person to qualify for an A-Main at the Chili Bowl Nationals by winning one of his heat races.[23][24]

Has won 5 Quarter Midget championships from 1993 to 1998.[24]

Since 2000, Allgaier is the only ARCA RE/MAX Series Champion, other than 9-time ARCA RE/MAX Series Champion Frank Kimmel.
